We're thrilled to announce a new partnership between Pullman Melbourne City Centre and EquallyU.
Together, we're launching The Purposeful Employer Program, an innovative work immersion initiative designed to equip early career people with a disability with the essential skills and knowledge to succeed in the hospitality industry. This transition to employment best practice model is built on a foundation of mutual support and growth. Participants will gain hands-on experience and explore the diverse roles and requirements within the industry. At the same time, the dedicated and inclusive team at Pullman Melbourne City Centre will enhance their confidence and understanding of creating a truly inclusive workplace for people with disability, all while being supported by the experienced job coaches from EquallyU.
Co-founders of EquallyU, Kym Vassiliou and Jan Davis, shared their excitement: "We are excited to be launching this new partnership with the Pullman Melbourne City Centre. With our experience when delivering these programs, partnering with inclusive employers is key and the Pullman Melbourne City Centre, part of the Accor Group whose values and commitment to sustainability, diversity and inclusion are so aligned with ours, it provides the perfect setting to help young people to grow and develop employability skills and confidence."
Inclusive Training in Action
The program kicked off with an Inclusive Workplaces training session led by EquallyU, featuring a powerful personal perspective. An EquallyU client with lived experience speaker, Jacob and his assistance dog Paddy, presented to The Pullman City Centre team about his experience as an autistic job seeker. Jacob shared his personal journey, explaining how his autism has impacted his life and work, and recounted his experiences with both inclusive and non-inclusive employers. This session underscored a vital principle of our program: disability awareness training is just the beginning. The real learning and development happen when these concepts are applied in a practical setting.
The Pullman City Centre staff will now be able to build on their knowledge, working directly alongside students and job coaches to create a genuinely inclusive and supportive workplace environment. This hands-on approach ensures that the learning is not just theoretical but deeply embedded in the day-to-day. We are excited that these students will build their skills and experience for their resumes and be on their path to employment.
